The Florey is disappointed by the allegations made about the Institute in recent newspaper articles. Like many medical research institutes across Australia, The Florey has faced significant funding pressures in recent years, and we have taken timely and measured actions to secure our future. We remain in a financially sustainable position, despite the well documented funding challenges in our sector. This is thanks to the combination of competitive grant success, research commercialisation, operational efficiency and the generosity of our donors.
We are committed to supporting our exceptional scientists who work with the highest standards of integrity, assisted by talented research support professionals alongside a vibrant graduate student community. We are proud of the continued and highly celebrated successes of our researchers and the efforts of those who work in support of them. Our researchers are working on some of the most urgent challenges in brain health, including Alzheimer’s disease and childhood dementias, brain cancer, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, motor neurone disease and mental illness.
The Florey remains committed to a consultative and considerate approach to management and a culture that is grounded in care, curiosity and integrity.
