Prominent health executives welcomed to The Florey Board of Directors

The Florey is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Shelley Dolan and Jodie Geissler to its Board of Directors. We also thank and farewell Professor Christine Kilpatrick AO who has retired from her position on the Board.

Professor Dolan joined the Royal Melbourne Hospital in August 2023 as Chief Executive, after having served as Chief Executive of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre for 4 years.

She is a highly respected clinical and research leader with an impressive track record in healthcare, having successfully led major organisational and cultural change in Australia, Europe and the UK.

Board Chair Martin Adams welcomed Professor Dolan and Ms Geissler to their new roles.

“These appointments highlight the importance of the continued partnerships between The Florey and both Royal Melbourne Hospital and Austin Health.”

Our strong relationships with the health sector enable vital collaborations between Florey researchers and clinicians as we work together to improve outcomes for people living with neurological and mental health conditions.

Mr Adams thanked Professor Kilpatrick AO for her contribution to the Board over the past 6 years.

“Professor Kilpatrick AO was a valued member of the Audit, Risk and Governance Committee. I congratulate her on her new role as Board Chair of the Royal Children’s Hospital and thank her for sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience with The Florey.”

Professor Dolan said she was delighted to be joining the Florey Board.

“I am really excited to do everything I can to contribute to this world-class research institute and to increase collaborations between the Florey, RMH and The Austin.”

Ms Geissler said: “It’s a real honour to sit on The Florey Board, an institute I have long admired for its leading and impactful research, and its reputation for attracting the very best researchers.

“I look forward to continuing the partnership between Austin Health and The Florey, and supporting the research, translational studies, and clinical trials that our clinicians and investigators will drive together, to create better ways to treat and prevent brain disease and mental illness.”
