The Florey 2024 Impact Report launch

The Florey 2024 Impact Report Launch event

Translating world-class neuroscience into real-world outcomes

The Florey 2024 Impact Report Launch celebrated some of the important discoveries made by our researchers. We heard powerful stories from people with lived experience of conditions, and how their lives have been transformed by Florey research, as well as some of our leading researchers who dedicate their work towards studying these conditions.

Topics and speakers on the night were:

  • Streamlining epilepsy diagnosis and treatment: how the Australian Epilepsy Project is making a difference in the lives of people with epilepsy – Professor Graeme Jackson and lived experience ambassador Amanda Anderson.
  • Stem cells and therapy for Parkinson’s disease – Professor Clare Parish in conversation with Peter van Wijngaarden.
  • Turning the tide on sepsis: a lifesaving Florey-patented treatment – Professor Yugeesh Lankadeva.
  • Incisionless procedure for movement disorder: MRI-guided focused ultrasound research and its ability to treat essential tremor – Associate Professor Wes Thevathasan and patient Richard Mulcahy.

It was our privilege to showcase these inspiring stories and to share how neuroscience is creating real-world impact, right here at The Florey.
