Steve Simpson-Yap researcher profile

Biography

Steve is a mid-career researcher in epidemiology, particularly multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune conditions.

Following undergraduate training in biology at Hunter College in the USA and postgraduate studies in public health at the University of California, Berkeley, he undertook doctoral research in multiple sclerosis geoepidemiology and predictors of clinical course at the Menzies Research Institute Tasmania, University of Tasmania between 2008–2011.

He is now a Senior Research Fellow in the Neuroepidemiology Group at the Florey, and the Neuroepidemiology Unit at the Melbourne School of Population & Global Health. In both, he studies the epidemiology of MS, including the roles of environmental/lifestyle, genetic, epigenetic and other factors with MS risk and progression.
