Biography
Dr Chaitra Chandrashekar is a postdoctoral researcher with a background in peptide chemistry and its glycosylation. Her research focuses on establishing novel synthetic methods and novel analogs for peptides used for treating diabetes (both Type-1 and Type-2), under the supervision of Professor Akhter Hossain.
She completed her PhD from Osaka University, Japan, in 2017 under the supervision of Professor Yasuhiro Kajihara. Her research in Japan focused on developing hydrophilic protecting groups for peptides. This allowed modification of recombinant peptides, process optimisation and development for large-scale synthesis of interferon-beta.
