Biography

Dr Carolina Gubert is a current Research Fellow at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Melbourne, Australia. She completed her PhD in the graduate program Biological Science: Biochemistry at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in early 2018. At the same Institution, she completed her Master's degree in 2014 and her Biomedicine bachelor degree in 2012. Her work has shed light on the biological underpinnings of psychiatric and neurological disorders. Her PhD focused on a purinergic receptor as a new hope of treatment for psychiatric disorders. Currently, she is interested in the gene-environment interactions and the microbiota-gut-brain axis in brain disorders, including Huntington’s Disease and Schizophrenia.
