Bioresources
The Florey’s Bioresources Facility offers state-of-the-art procedural suites, phenotyping equipment and rodent facilities for researchers and academics from within The Florey, neighbouring research institutes, universities and external laboratories or commercial partners.
The facility is fully PC2 and SPPL certified with some spaces rated at BC2 and AA accredited for quarantine purposes. The facility is managed by qualified and experienced animal care staff and can offer specialised technical skills upon request.
Located within our Parkville Campus, the facility has animal models that are available in house for studies of a range of neurological and psychiatric conditions.

Ethics and care
Animal ethics
The Florey Animal Ethics Committee operates under the Australian Code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes (8th edition 2013). The Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) operates using the Terms of Reference and Procedural Guidelines.

Veterinary care
The Florey and the Bioresources Facility have a vet care program in place to ensure animal welfare. This program is constantly reviewed to be in line with best practice in coordination with animal ethics.
