Dr Tailby is head of the Cognition Laboratory in the Epilepsy Imaging Division of the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (the Florey).
His research focuses on cognition in the epilepsies, combining neuropsychological research techniques with advanced imaging methods. He seeks to develop new methods for evaluating cognitive dysfunction in the epilepsies, and to develop fMRI tools for use in the presurgical assessment of focal epilepsy patients.
Dr Tailby has published 36 papers (18 first author). Most recently Dr Tailby, along with his colleagues at the Florey, was awarded an NHMRC Project Grant (CIC – New Investigator) for $1.4M to investigate the utility of advanced fMRI methods in identifying the seizure focus in otherwise difficult to localise focal epilepsies.
Dr Tailby is a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist at Austin Health.
He serves as an external reviewer for the NHMRC and a manuscript reviewer for various journals, including Brain, Human Brain Mapping, Journal of Neuroscience, etc.
