The Florey Appeal

Support us to develop more effective treatments for depression and anxiety

1 in 3 Australians experience a mental health condition in their lifetime.

Almost half of those with depression and anxiety don’t respond to current treatments.

Our world-leading researchers are at the forefront of changing how we diagnose, treat, and ultimately prevent mental health conditions.

Please make a gift to support our vital research.

Janet's story

Dennis and Elizabeth* have seen first-hand the devastating effect that mental illness can have on a loved one’s life. For more than 30 years they have watched their daughter struggle with anxiety and depression.

Janet* was a bright and bubbly girl. She loved school, was an excellent student and had a close group of friends. After recovering from a severe illness, she became depressed and anxious.

Janet is, unfortunately, one of the many people with anxiety and depression who don’t respond to current treatments.

“Our daughter had so much potential. It has been so sad to watch as she has been unable to fulfil all that promise because of her illness,” said Janet’s father, Dennis.
