Ellen Cullity is a PhD student in A/Prof Jee Hyun Kim’s Developmental Psychobiology Laboratory. Her current research focuses on the relationship between the natural maturation of the brain- from infancy through adolescence and into adulthood- and neurodevelopmental disorders such as addiction, schizophrenia, depression and anxiety. Specifically, Ellen is investigating the postnatal developmental trajectory of dopamine receptors and their potential role in addiction-related behaviour. Her main objective is to understand why adolescents are more vulnerable to developing mental disorders, in particular addiction, in an attempt to improve treatment outcomes for vulnerable individuals.
