Yen Ying is a lead investigator of Healthy Brain Project and an early career research fellow at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. Her research interest includes understanding genetic and lifestyle factors that may accelerate or protect against brain diseases. Her work is supported by the NHMRC National Institute for Dementia Research, Alzheimer's Australia and the Yulgilbar Alzheimer's Research Program.
Dr Lim started her career as a clinical neuropsychologist working with dementia patients and their families, where she became interested in asking more advanced research questions about how to diagnose and treat the disease. She completed her studies at Brown University in the US before returning to Australia to continue researching at the Florey.
In 2017 Dr Lim was awarded the Young Researcher of the Year award by the Bethlehem Griffiths Research Foundation. This award is an excellent predictor of those researchers who are going to go on and really make an impact in Australian, and global, medical research.
