Amyloid angiopathy is a common cause of brain hemorrhage in the elderly.
Amyloid angiopathy is a common cause of brain hemorrhage in the elderly. Its role in younger patients with brain hemorrhage is unknown. In SEARCH we will use amyloid PET scans and genetic analysis to identify whether amyloid deposition plays a role in younger stroke patients with unexplained brain hemorrhage.
Aims
To investigate the role of amyloid deposition on PET scan in patients with unexplained brain hemorrhage
This is a multicenter case control study across 4 hospital sites of patients with explained and unexplained brain hemorrhage. Patients will undergo phenotyping and genotyping and amyloid PET. As part of the project the student will assess brain hemorrhages across Melbourne in the young.
