Ms Lilian Braighi Carvalho

Lilian is a qualified doctor who is undertaking a PhD under supervision of Professor Julie Bernhardt in the AVERT Early Rehabilitation Research Group and is co-supervised by Prof Vincent Thijs, Associate Professor Brian Chambers and Dr Karen Borschmann. Dr Lilian completed her medical training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in 2014 and subsequently Advanced Training in Clinical Neurophysiology in 2015 at the University of Sao Paulo/Brazil. She worked as a Rehabilitation Medicine consultant and clinical researcher in neurorehabilitation, including stroke, and spasticity management in Sao Paulo for 2.5 years before moving to Melbourne. Her PhD topic aims to better understand how upright head posture and mobilisation affect cerebral haemodynamics after an ischaemic stroke.
