NHMRC Centre of Excellence in Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery
The Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) in Stroke Rehabilitation and Brain Recovery aims to transform the stroke research and practice landscape in Australia.
The unique collaboration between the Florey and Newcastle Hunter Medical Research Institute researchers will develop new treatments, improve patient selection into clinical trials and advance rehabilitation research methods. It covers a number of areas: basic science, imaging, clinical trials, implementation research and data linkage.
The CRE plans to create a training culture for the next generation of rehabilitation researchers.
Professor Julie Bernhardt is the Chief Investigator of the study.
Other Florey researchers involved in the CRE are: Professors Geoff Donnan, Chris Bladin. Dominique Cadilhac, Leeanne Carey, Leonid Churilov and David Howells.
