Characterisation of a putative new class of brain glial cells with possible roles in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
The characteristic neuropathological features of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are Aβ amyloid plaques and tau neurofibrillary tangles. Our team has discovered a group of glial cells of unknown identity we believe to have key roles in Aβ and tau pathology. The project will investigate the relationship of these cells with Aβ and tau in the human brain and brain from AD-related mouse models.
This technique includes those used in a modern clinical neurological diagnostics lab for biomarker investigations and image analysis using AI machine learning platforms.
