Professor Derek Denton AC Memorial Fund

Professor Derek Ashworth Denton AC, The Florey’s founding director, was one of the most eminent Australian scientists of his time.

In 1960 he brought together major philanthropists, including Mr Kenneth Myer AC and Sir Ian Potter, to establish the Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology and Medicine – what is now known as ‘The Florey’.

Professor Denton’s unparalleled vision for what medical research should look like in Australia took enormous courage, dedication and insight. We are enormously proud and honoured to continue his legacy through the work of The Florey to this day.

Donations made to the Professor Derek Denton AC Memorial Fund will allow us to continue our vital brain and mind research to find treatments, solutions and ultimately improve the lives of people who live with neurological and mental health conditions.
