Dr Nicole Bassett

Nicole joined The Florey in 2023 as its new General Manager – Philanthropy. She is responsible for managing all philanthropy-related activities including donor engagement and stewardship, major gifts, appeals, and wills and bequests.
Nicole is a former academic with an interest in perinatal physiology and fetal growth, and has 20 years’ experience as a major gifts fundraiser. She has extensive experience in building deep meaningful donor-led relationships working with individuals, Family Trusts and Foundations granting agencies and other not-for profits. Her mandate is to inspire donors to support world-class researchers who in turn are developing new strategies to improve the lives of people suffering from neurological and mental health related conditions.
Nicole joins The Florey from the University of Auckland in New Zealand where she was previously responsible for philanthropy for the university’s two flagship research institutes: the Liggins institute and the Auckland Bioengineering Institute.
